International Van Rentals

International van rentals can be expensive.

Moving from one country to another is difficult and stressful, but does it have to be expensive too?  There are a number of ways to find the best rates and save some of your hard earned money.

The first tip is to plan ahead.  Renting vehicles last minute can be very expensive, and sometimes impossible.  If you wait until the last minute, you run the chance of not being able to find any moving vans available.  It’s also usually cheaper to get a cheap van rental if you reserve one months in advance.

If you have the option, try moving in the middle of the month (or at least a week before or after the end of the month).  Moving at the end of the month is the busiest moving day and as such, the companies renting out their vehicles usually increase the cost (supply and demand).  If you need to rent a vehicle for moving, you can usually get cheaper rates if you pick off-peak dates.

Some rental companies will also give you discounts if you can return their vehicle the same day you rent it.  This doesn’t always work if you are moving to another country though.

One-way rentals are usually one of the most expensive types of rentals.  If you call around and you’re lucky, sometimes you can find vehicles that need to go back to another location and they will offer you great discounts.  These rentals are harder to find, but they are out there if you’re lucky.
